Anybody who knew Uncle LL could tell you that he had fun with the acts that appeared on his show (well, maybe except for The Byrds, but that's another story for another time ...). Here he is, on the left, catterwaulin' with some up-and-coming singer from the 1960s (wonder whatever happen to him? Did he ever have a hit record or something?)
Of today's acts, though, I've gotta give the nod to a young dude who would be right up Lloyd Thaxton's alley. I mean, he has talent, charisma, presence, style and 50 cents in his pocket.
Nope. There's no doubt about it: Uncle Lloyd would book him in a heartbeat (so would the police, but that's another story ...) if he and his show were around today.
Take a look at this video coming up. You people will have the time of your life, and go mad like the rest of us over the verve and musical genius of the great ... Nathan Persad (of the Persad Brothers. Cheap plug ...)
You'll maybe even notice that I used the name of six magazines in the first sentence of this here paragraph!
So, without further ado (or adon't, or amight ...) here's the new clown prince of rock (the initials of which spell CPR, which it seems our over-technoed and over-loopy-looped music needs now) doing his hit from 1946, Clean Up My Act(actually, from 2004 - but who's counting?):
See what I mean? He would've been perfect for the show!
Heck ... he's perfect for music today!
Okay, that's it for now. Until next ish, remember:
Keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music ...
and I'll see ya on the flip side!!
